A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing this new sweet and super squishy baby boy! Look at all that SQUISH! Gahhh I am a sucker for baby rolls. I mean, and look at his BRF!!! I can related buddy.
He was an excellent sleeper for his session and we were able to get some adorable images for his family. He even got to pose for his first pictures with his BIG brother, who is very proud to have a new baby brother.
His momma loved our neutral set-ups and the clean timeless look that we selected for his session. When styling newborn sessions we are very intentional about what we select. Will it coordinate with your home decor? Will you still love these in 20 years? Is each images consistent with the next? After all we only except the absolute best for each and every one of our loving clients.
Miss E is THREE!! To say this child is adorable is an understatement. It always makes me feel a lllliiiitle old when I photography Miss E, because you see, I used to babysit her mommy….oh about 20 years ago. Sighhhhh.
Anyway, moving on. We had SO much fun documenting this sassy girl becoming a “threenager”, get it? Three + teenager! Ha ah it made me giggle…
She was Harry Potter for Halloween so we just HAD to get some in it! Miss E also has a special love of Disney’s newest princess Elena of Avalor.
Somehow I missed blogging this sweet baby’s newborn session! I am SO sorry baby!!! This precious baby girl came into my studio in December so it was only right we incorporated some Christmas Cheer! Check out her little cocoa mug <3 <3
Mom loves purple so I made sure to incorporate some as well…she DOES look good in purple!! I just loved her little squishy rolls and her red hair!
Double the diapers, double the fun! I had an absolute blast photographing this adorable newborn twin session! You may remember this beautiful couple from their maternity session a few weeks ago, well the babies are HERE! I probably don’t have to tell you but, They. Are. Perfect.
Planning this session was SO fun, these two were my first boy/girl twins since 2012!! Not only did i get to select items for a girl and a boy but I got to coordinate little outfits for them both…gahhhh so cute!!
I typically only take on 1-2 twin newborn sessions a year so when I do have them I call in reinforcements. My fellow newborn photographer Brittany from Baby Mine Photography came up from Orlando for the day to lend a helping hand and lend a snuggle.
Here is a flashback for ya! Back to 2012 to my first set of twins…aren’t they adorable?? I would say my posing has come a long way. If you’re just stating out or want to improve your newborns, invest in in resign mentoring, it’ll change your world. 🙂
Sweet Willow is ONE!!! While I cannot wrap my head around her being so big, I was BEYOND excited when Willow’s mommy contacted me to set up her 1st birthday cake smash session! I was even more excited to hear that she was planning a “Butterfly Garden” theme! I live for the springtime and fresh flowers and who doesn’t like butterflies?
My goal for her session was to keep things simple, yet beautiful. I chose a soft yellow frosting for her cake and decorated it with a few butterflies from the kit I purchased to create the butterfly rainbow on the cream wood backdrop. I also mirrored the same rainbow effect on her cake to tie the two together. Doesn’t it just make you happy?!?
I absolutely love planning 1st birthday sessions. I had a conversation recently with a mommy inquiring about her baby’s 1st birthday session…we got to talking about pricing and how she has used other cheaper or less experienced photographers for her child’s milestone session, but she really wanted GOOD pictures for the 1 year. I understand that 100%. Save your hard earned money on the milestones like 3, 6 & 9 months. But don’t cut corners on the big milestones like 1 year. Your baby’s first birthday is a milestone that is worth the investment, even if you have to make payments. Your baby only has one first birthday.
Here is a peek at Miss Willow’s newborn session. She made me work, HARD at her newborn “sessions”. You see Miss Willow didn’t get the memo that she only had one visit to the studio, she wanted 3…but I love her anyway. <3
Why does it feel like I never blogged these sweet kids and their Milk and Cookies Sessions?!? Oh, yeah, because I am WAYYYYY behind. <—– Story of my life!
It is always fun to plan our annual Children’s Christmas Sessions.
This year I thought I would take it back to our VERY first theme from 2011, Milk and Cookies!
Each child got to sip milk and nibble on cookies all while adorning their coziest christmas pajamas! Who wouldn’t love that?!?!
At the end of each session the kids all received a personalized cookie courtesy of ME, yep I also bake, and never sleep.
What can I say about the Trainor family? I mean besides the obvious adorableness! I have had the privilege of watching them blossom from a young couple anticipating the arrival of there first child to a beautiful family of four!
Their faces say it all…pure happiness.
But, how could you not be happy raising these two adorable little fellas?
Last year at this time I sat utterly exhausted, ready to quit and so incredibly sad I had missed what seemed like every event and milestone my children had in 2015.
I have to say, those of you who stuck through it with me will forever be “my people” and thoes who have joined our Simply Newborn Family this year, thank you! This year I shot the least amount of sessions I have shot in the past 3 years and I couldn’t be happier! While the changes to my business were hard I knew something had to change or I was going to have to quit.
I started this thing back in 2010 to have a way to destress and help pay for vacations and Christmas, what have you. It swiftly became a full time job to my already full time job! So I sat down and made some drastic changes to my schedule, prices and my life!
2016 came with pricing overhaul, SET schedules, and saying NO! <— that’s hard. When someone who used to come to you for $100 with all the files wants the old deal, learning to say no and value yourself is not fun or easy. But in business you have to separate your emotions from business decisions, which is difficult when you’re a creative spirit. There have been many tears and heartaches when I see “my clients” book with other and most certainly cheaper photographers. That’s when I realized, they weren’t really “my clients”, they were here for the deal. While that may sound harsh, it is reality. It is the reality all small business owners face. Never the less these changes were necessary not only to still financially provide the extras for my family but to still be a PART of my family. Learning to value my craft and my time and stop being afraid to charge what I am worth has been a heck of an adventure and a learning experience.
I had one of my long time clients, talking back to 2012 when I didn’t even use photoshop..said to me at her consultation “It is about time your prices reflect your talent. You have undervalued your work for too long!” <3
So here is to MY people! Lol, 2016 in review <3 I love you all and hope to see you in 2017.
It is a yearly tradition I have come to cherish, my session with the Hooper family! Every year I am amazed at their ability to nail their session in record time.
This year we were met with some extra challenges. Our original session date was postponed by Hurricane Matthew.
So we set another date only to arrive at the preplanned beach access point to find several photographers and their clients who had their cars broken into and a park ranger who was “going to lock us in”…so needless to say…we hurried to find another nearby beach access with only minutes to spare before sunset.
In pure Hooper fashion these four cranked out smiles and delight and we completed there session with only minute of daylight left.
To say I am thankful for those who continue to support this little business of mine year after year would be an understatement. Even as I evolve and change my business there are so many of you who continue to allow me to capture your memories. While I know you could easily go to someone who is offering slightly out of focus images for $30 sessions, you choose my art and trust my vision. I am eternally gratefully for you all!
